Martin Engler (1953) est né à Grabs (SG), en Suisse. Il vit maintenant à Genève. Après avoir étudié l’art à Zurich, il développe diverses techniques: mixed média, huiles, collages, sculptures et bronze. Il réalise des “corporate portraits” pour des privés et pour des entreprises - la communication à travers l’art est née. Ses œuvres sont les instantanés d’une déambulation émotionnelle qui lie le monde de l’art et le quotidien dans un même courant. Ses “portraits de vie” transparents offrent suffisamment d’espace à la fantaisie du spectateur pour lui permettre de laisser libre jeu à la constitution de sa propre réalité. En 2008, Martin Engler découvre à La Havane, Cuba les anciennes techniques de la collagraphie et de la monotypographie. Il a participé à la Xème Biennale de la Havane, expérience retracée dans le documentaire «Cuba, la caja fuerte abandonada» (Cuba, le coffre-fort abandonné) qui a été diffusé à la Télévision Suisse et sur TV5 en 2014-15. Martin Engler (1953) was born in Grabs (SG), Switzerland. He now lives in Geneva. After studying art in Zurich he developed diverse techniques: mixed media, oil painting, collage, bronze casting and sculpture. He executes “corporate portraits» for private individuals and companies - communication through art is born. His works are snapshots of an emotional journey linking daily life to art. His transparent «Life Portraits» leave enough space for the spectator to construct his/her own interpretation. In 2008, during a stay in Havana, Cuba, Martin Engler discovered the ancient techniques of collagraphy and monotypography. His participation at the 10th Havana Biennial is the subject of the documentary “Cuba, la caja fuerte abandonada” (Cuba, the abandoned safe), which was aired on Swiss Television and on channel TV5 in 2014-15. Martin Engler (1953) wurde in Grabs (SG), Schweiz geboren und lebt heute in Genf. Nach seinem Kunststudium in Zürich entwickelte er verschiedene Techniken: Mixed media, Ölmalerei, Collage, Bronze und Bildhauerei. Er realisiert “Corporate Portraits” für Privatpersonen und Unternehmen – Kunst wird zum Verständigungsmittel. Seine Werke sind Schnappschüsse einer emotionalen Wanderung, in der die Welt der Kunst und des Alltags zusammenfliessen. Seine “Lebensportraits” lassen der Phantasie des Betrachters freien Raum, um sich eigene Wirklichkeiten zu erdenken. 2008 entdeckte und erlernte Martin Engler in Havanna, Kuba die alten Techniken der Kollagraphie und der Monotypographie. Anlässlich seiner Teilnahme an der 10. Biennale Havanna wurde der Dokumentarfilm “Cuba, la caja fuerte abandonada” (Kuba, der verlassene Tresor) gedreht und im 2014-15 am Schweizer Fernsehen sowie auf TV5 gezeigt. Martin Englers Werke wurden weltweit ausgestellt, sind in namhaften Sammlungen vertreten und waren Gegenstand einer Auktion bei Christie’s.
